Beyond Fiction was created to share my genealogy research with my family. Over the years, it has evolved into more. It is now a place for:
- Sharing updates on my website
- Sharing updates on my family
- Sharing updates on websites that I find useful in my genealogy research
- Sharing updates on my research
My genealogy and family history research is centered around the four surnames of my grandparents: Forbes, Spangler, Stevenson and Gamble. My paternal grandparents were David Franklin Spangler and Ora Elizabeth Gamble. My maternal grandparents were George Charles Forbes and Winnie Ida Stevenson.
Other surnames that I am researching are Beal, Seeber, Buss, Warchus, Britt, Sheridan, Howe, House, Deacon, Rainwater, Freeman, Brown, Felton, Seawright and Walrad.
If you are researching any of these surnames, this site may be helpful for you!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Kenneth W. Spangler and I am the author of the Beyond Fiction blog. They say behind every good man is a great woman so I am including a picture of my lovely wife as well!
I began researching my family history around June of 2000, shortly after the death of my father. My goal is to find as much information as possible and compile it in a way that I can share it with my children and pass it on to them. In 2005 I started a website to share my research. In 2007 I decided I would start a blog as a way of sharing updates with my family.
I work a 40-hour job in a manufacturing environment. I am married with three children. My children range from age 16 to age 21. I have one grandson who is fighting a battle with brain cancer. The latest news shows he is winning that battle! My family takes a huge part of my time and I don’t mind.
I have no formal education as a genealogist. Most of what I know I have learned from reading other blogs and from other websites. I take pride in being able to learn what I want to know by searching the web. I’d say I am a self-made man but I’m really just a man who is a product of his interactions with others!
