Today, I want to show you a little more on my re-organization efforts. Some news has came up that may delay my efforts but I’m hoping I can avoid that!
Today I want to focus on my file cabinet. I don’t have a huge 4-drawer file, I simply have a small, 2-drawer type. For years I’ve shared my genealogy files with my coupon files, tax forms, court documents, etc… I’m happy to say that my file cabinet is now totally dedicated to my genealogy. What did I do with the other files? I’ll show you real quick:
My choice of filing is still under debate but I’m positive of the fact that I will go with a color-coded system. My top file drawer is dedicated to Maternal Research (both for me and my wife’s research) and the bottom file drawer will be dedicated to Paternal Research (once again, mine and my wife’s). For the Maternal I chose Blue and Red, for the Paternal I chose Green and Yellow. Since I had some Purple folders also, I chose to use those for Immediate Family members — siblings, nieces, nephews, and parents. I have a set in the top for Trina’s family and in the bottom for mine. I also have a regular dark green folder separating my files from my wife’s files.
Here are a couple of pictures of my file:
The blue files in the top drawer used to be completely full and took up half of the drawer. It’s nice to see them starting to come down somewhat! The files in the bottom are still “Under Construction”. I was wondering where all my paternal files had gone to and now I realize that they are all in one big binder with no organization to them whatsoever! Yippee! Sounds like some more fun sorting all that out also!
The main point is that I am trying to get organized and I actually have an idea of how I want to do it! Now I just have to find the time, which I will. I’ll share more as I am able.
Thanks for stopping by today,
