David F. Spangler, former Clarksville resident, who lived here at 227 Pine Bluff St., died at home Sunday at 5:30 a.m.
Services were set Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Fry & Gibbs chapel. Dr. Ronald Price of First Baptist Church officiating and Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home making burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Spangler was born in Arkansas, July 11, 1882, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Spangler, and came to Texas in childhood. He married Miss Susie Vaughn in Clarksville in 1903, her death occuring in 1919. On July 12, 1925 he married Miss Ora E. Gamble, and they moved to Paris in 1952, when he retired as a drayman. He was a Baptist.
Besides his wife, survivors are these children: Mrs. J. R. Daniel and Mrs. J. M. Mullendore, Dallas; Mrs. Helen Hart, Houston; Mrs. Marvin Bennett, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. B. R. Landers, Paris; and David Spangler, Temple; 15 granchildren, including these whom the Spanglers reared; Larry Dean Spangler, Jerry Wayne Spangler and Glenda Sue Spangler; one great-great-granchild; a sister, Mrs. Annie Mays, Pickton, and a brother, John Spangler, Idabel, Okla.

Are any of Grandpa’s siblings still alive?
Hey Kim,
I did a quick search through an old database and it looks like the last remaining sibling, Louisa Ann (Annie Mays mentioned above), died in 1973. David Franklin was 46 when Dad was born so I can understand why there are no more siblings around. The youngest sibling was born in 1895!
