Hello everyone! I just wanted to stop by and share with you all a little something I found last night. I’m not sure how long it has been around but it is the first time I saw it!
On the Family Search website I have discovered a new database. It’s called Arkansas County Marriages, 1837-1957. I’ve noticed another database before that had Arkansas Marriages but what makes this one different is that it has images with it.
I’ve already found one for my great-grandparents, James Isaic Spangler and Mary Ellen Deacon. I even found one for my 2x-great-grandfather for his 3rd marriage. I also found two records for my wife’s grandparents, which is an interesting find.
If you have any connections to Arkansas, you owe it to yourself to check out this database. Some of the earlier marriages, such as my great-grandfather’s, are not the actual marriage certificate but rather a written recording of the marriage, kinda like a paragraph written about it. Others, like my wife’s grandparents, have the full page of the application for the marriage license and the record of the marriage.
I wish you luck in your research and will post new finds as they come along!
Have a great week!
