March 8 — Did one of your female ancestors leave a diary, journal, or collection of letters? Share an entry or excerpt.
Once again, this one is late but I am trying to play catch-up!
I don’t have any diaries, journals or such like so I will share something else that I thought you might like. I originally shared this in a post on June 6, 2007, so recycling it after almost 4 years isn’t too bad!
This is a poem I found while scanning some of my mother’s pictures a few years ago. There were actually two poems but this one was my favorite. It’s short and sweet but the words speak a lot more than you think. You can read a lot more from this poem than just the “cute” words in it. Here is the scan of it:
For those who can’t read it too well, here is a transcription:
If I could have 3 wishes
One would be to be happy & carefree as my fishes
Two would be to have a happy home life
Without misery, heartache & strife
3 Would be to have children who care for me
& have respect, honor & dignity
I hope you enjoy this. I have another poem I may share later.
