A couple of nights ago I was doing some initial research on my Freeman line. Part of that research was looking at my great-grandmother’s siblings. One of those siblings was Willis Alpheus Freeman. In my research of him I found that he had a daughter named Gladys and that she had married a man named Robinson in Florida. Most of this information came from family trees I found on Ancestry but I did find files that could prove this.
One of the most interesting things I found was a picture that I had gotten from my Aunt Juanita almost 8 years ago! I remembered that there was a picture that mention a Gladys Freeman so I went looking. It actually says that it is Gladys Freeman Robinson and her cousins! Here is the picture:
So, what do you see in this picture? If you are anything like me, you see an urgency to find the folks connected with Gladys. Just look at what they are doing. There is what appears to be a cassette player and lots of old photos on that table. What were they doing? Seems to me that they are looking in to some family history and perhaps even recording some oral history!
When I see something like this then I know that I need to try to find the descendants of Gladys! There’s no guarantee that any of this was saved but if it was then I sure would love to find out!
According to my research, Gladys Freeman Robinson died in 1997 in Lakeland, Polk Co., Florida. It’s been over 13 years since her death so time is a wasting! I’ve got to find out who these folks are and try to make some contacts!
Seriously, all kidding aside, this photo is one that really excites me. If I am fortunate enough to meet up with one of her descendants and this “meeting” is what I am thinking then I might find myself pleasantly surprised!
What do you think? Would you be as excited as I am about this picture?
Have a wonderful week,
