It’s late but I still have time for my Monday Musings! I just have to decide what I want to muse today!
There is only one thing I can actually address today and that is my photo organization. I’ve been working on my scanned images on my computer for a little over a week now. I started with over 37,000 images and I’ve worked it down to where I only have 24,000 more to go through.
My first stab was at the pictures of my wife’s family. There were over 2,000 images there and by the time I finished working with them it was down to about 900 or so. I was amazed at how many doubles and triples I had!
My current project is working on the images of my family. I started with over 34,000 and now have it down to the 24,000. I have yet to sort through the doubles and such but I have noticed that there are quite a few of them. In some instances I noticed that there are probably 6 copies of them. I have the feeling that when I am finally finished my 37,000 images will be around 10,000 images or less.
I still haven’t gotten any advice on how to organize my pictures or naming schemes. I wish I had a huge readership like everyone else but I guess I will have to work at building up a readership.
I’ve been debating on how to approach getting my website going again and how to get my genealogy research going again but I really feel like I need to tackle just one task right now, especially as this task of organizing the photos on my PC is such a huge task! Even when I finish sorting through all of these images and renaming them I still have all the pictures I have yet to scan and such. This might take 2 or 3 years to do!
So, that’s what’s on my mind today. I wish I could spout off some words of wisdom here but I really don’t have any. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time and not overwhelm myself as I have done in the past.
I wish you all much success in your research and all of your goals for your genealogy and family history this year.
Have a wonderful week,
