I’m in a hurry to get to work so today’s post will be published by my daughter, Jessica!
I know that today, among all days, my dad would love to not be going to work! Isaiah is coming home today, but will not be at home until late this afternoon! He has been in the hospital since November, and my mom says that he’s excited to be leaving! Of course while at home, there will be so much that we have to do. Due to the severity of the cancer, we have to make sure that his medicine is given to him correctly, he’s not seizing in his sleep, and just make him as comfortable as possible. Isaiah will be taking seizer medicine for pretty much the rest of his life!
Besides all of that, he’s doing much better now than what he was when he first went in to the hospital! It seemed like after every surgery that he has had, so far, he gets stronger! Every time we look at him, he’s either smiling, laughing, or just trying to talk to us! His personality is coming back slowly but surely! There’s just so much that we are thankful for! It brings in a sweet feeling of happiness every time we get good reports!
Isaiah is such a strong little boy, and he knows that something is wrong with him! Even though, we know that he’s excited about coming home, he has to be back at Duke Medical Center on Sunday. They will start chemo on Monday, which will be given to him once every 9 months! Along with chemo, he will have to take to experimental oral drugs because chemo’s not get the cancer alone. He will still need a bone marrow transplant, possibly another surgery (if there’s any tumor left), and he may have to do radiation, if chemo and these experimental drugs doesn’t get it.
I know that my dad has probably said all of this, but we really appreciate all the prayers and support that everyone gives us! If it wasn’t for all of you, we probably wouldn’t be so strong for Isaiah! Every time someone asks how we are doing, all we say is that we are hanging in there! It’s been hard for all of us! I tell people that as long as Isaiah is fighting, we will not stop fighting for him! I would love to ask everyone to please continue praying and supporting us because we still have a very long road ahead of us!
