Wow! It seems like I chose the right path to take when I chose to go with my Stevenson side first. I was playing around again last night and came upon a great discovery!
I was on the Family Search Labs site and was just typing names in again. I do that sometimes when I am bored! I typed in my great-grandmother’s name, Eudora Stevenson, and was going through the results when I came upon a death record for my great-grandfather, Emmit Stevenson. I knew his death date and I have a picture of his tombstone but I have never found his death record.
Surprisingly, his death record is not in Texas!
I figured that is where it would be as he had been living in Texas for at least 20 years or more before he died. I went to all the surrounding counties by where he lived and searched through the court houses looking for his death certificate and never found it! So, I gave up hope on finding it!
So, where did the record I found last night say he died? In Florida! That’s right, in Florida! I knew he had died on February 11, 1928 because that is what was on his tombstone. The record I found last night has that same date and has his birth date, which is right also! It also lists his parents names and they are correct. It’s just a transcript of the death certificate so I will have to see about how I can go about getting a copy of it.
Isn’t it interesting how we are able to find things sometimes. I had no idea what I was looking for. I was just bored and was typing in stuff and made a great discovery!
Now to try to figure out what he was doing in Florida!
Until next time,
