Well, this year is almost over and I was thinking about a post I made back in January of this year. It was a post about some things I wanted to accomplish this year. I thought it might be interesting to see how I did!
Here are the main things I listed in that post:
- Redo my Family Tree and make sure every source is documented.
- Get my website in order.
- Take the time to make some family history!
- Start working on a Family History book.
So, let’s start with #1 and see how I did! I did get a good start on this. I began to document every source I had and was doing a very good job of it until I moved in July. I have yet to unpack all of my genealogy since that move and we are planning another move in February! Apartment living just isn’t for us! So, I had a good start to this but didn’t accomplish it at all!
I did make an attempt at getting my website in order but it’s kind of hard to do when you are actually making a move to a new URL! My website is up and running but I haven’t updated it in so long. I failed miserably at this!
I did do fairly well on goal #3! I made quite a bit of family history this year. I had my vacation to North Carolina in August (yes, I will eventually share my journal here) and I got to see my son get married in November. I also managed to have quite a Thanksgiving dinner that those who were there said was quite a time! Not your normal Thanksgiving but still, something we will remember. There was also some negative family history made but I will try my best not to dwell on that!
Last but not least, starting a Family History book. Hah! A far, far cry from even getting started. I didn’t write one sentence. I didn’t even get around to sharing my journals from my vacation! Shame on me!
I guess my purpose in this post is to just share with you all that I set my goals high and failed to accomplish all but step #3. Perhaps next time I should try to be more realistic!?
I am thinking of some things I might want to accomplish in 2009. I will be sharing that with you all soon!
Have a wonderful holiday season everyone!
