My “Bucket List”

Larry Lehmer posed a question on his Passing It On blog and I wanted to throw in my choices to his question, which is “Where are three places in my own family hsitory that I’d like to visit?”

Omro, Wisconsin – I’ve heard many stories about the dairy farm my 2nd-great-grandfather had, the huge house which he used for his patients (he was an eye doctor) to stay in while they recovered, my grandpa mentioning how he never wanted to milk another cow. It would be nice to see it, if it is still standing.

Batesville, Arkansas – This is where a lot of my Spangler research leads to before coming to Texas. It’s just a little trip for me but I have yet to make it. Perhaps someday I will.

Forbes Castle in Scotland – It would be so awesome to be able to see Forbes Castle in person. I mentioned in an earlier post how that all who carry the Forbes name eventually can trace their ancestry to one certain person and that helps me to see that traveling to Scotland and seeing Forbes Castle would be like visiting my ancestors. I’d also love to be able to go through some of the records in Scotland.

That’s my choices, what are yours?

    Hi Ken,
Through my Dunham line I appear to be descended from Alexander
    Forbes as well.

My Forbes ancestor who emigrated here was John Forbes who was
born in Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and who died in
Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., Ma around 1661.

    Ken,

Thank you for the inspiration. I’ve also thanked you in my blog article “Cow Hampshire’s Bucket List.”
