Hmmm, I don’t know if there really is a creative gene, but if you read Jasia’s post about the Creative Thread in her family then you would probably realize that there is! So, who has the creative gene in my family? Well, I believe we are all creative in one aspect or another. I could go on and on about those who I feel are creative but that would be more of a book than a blog post!
Let me just start with my immediate family.
My wife, Trina, says she is not creative but I can vouch for the fact that she is the most creative person I have ever seen when it comes to managing finances. I am amazed at how creative she is! Is that something that is inherited?
My son, Joseph, has the most creative imagination I have ever seen. He has amazed his English teachers with some of the things he is able to write. I oftentimes tell him that his calling is probably to be a writer. I think he prefers to be a Marine! He also is very talented when it comes to music!
My oldest daughter Jessica is still waiting to discover her talent. Don’t get me wrong, I believe she is multi-talented! She went to state this year with her high school choir, she is amazing on the flute (I really loved when she did Smoke On The Water playing the flute!), she loves to create images from scratch using Paint on her computer and she could probably be a successful artist if she wanted to but I would hate to see her as a starving artist! I was recently so disappointed because I missed her end of year choir show where she performed Jesus Take The Wheel using a karaoke tape. Folks said she was great!
My youngest daughter, Julia, is the one who I am still waiting on. She has flashes of everything but she really doesn’t show a continued interest in anything right now but boys! Maybe I can find out what creative gene she has later!
Myself, I’ve dabbled in being creative. I have created many websites in the past, my main one now being my genealogy site. In the past I have created desktop themes for personal computers, I’ve written a few gospel songs, and now I have found a new passion in writing about what I enjoy most! I can see a little bit of me in my children … the singing, designing, writing, and of course the silliness (is that creative?).
So, I guess you can say that our creativity is passed down from one generation to another.
Hmm, I believe that this could actually be a series about creative folks in your family. I haven’t even covered my parents and siblings yet.
Perhaps I can do so in the future!
